NDIS funded home delivery meals

The Fed by Jed home delivery menu offers an extensive rotating offering of chef-prepared tasty meals. Each meal is fully prepared and available through NDIS funding contributions. Proudly prepared using locally sourced ingredients and designed to provide flavour in every bite. All the home-made meals are prepared fresh and delivered frozen for easy reheating and convenience.

The whole menu is available if you have ready-made meals as part of your NDIS funding. But what exactly does this mean? NDIS meals are available when ready-made meals are home delivered. The NDIS funding will cover the cost of the meal preparation and delivery, and you need to pay a small percentage of the total cost to cover the ingredients.

How do I know if my NDIS plan will cover costs?

If you have an NDIS plan that includes funding for meal services you will be able to utilise some of your funds for Fed by Jed home delivered meals. Funds from your plan will cover the delivery costs and the meal preparation and you will be required to contribute the ingredient portion of the cost. This equates to 30% covered by yourself, and the majority, 70%, covered by the NDIS.

Fed by Jed accept self-managed, agency-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. If you are unsure whether you are eligible for home delivered meals within your NDIS plan, the quickest way to know is to look for this line within your plan: Preparation and Delivery of Meals (01_022_0120_1_1), which comes under Core Supports, assistance with daily life - daily activities. This indicates that your plan covers home delivered meals and means that you are eligible for subsidised home delivered meals from the Fed by Jed delivery menu.

NDIS meal cost

When Fed by Jed home delivered meals are purchased utilising NDIS funding the total cost is split. You will pay only a fraction of the total meal cost. The NDIS subsidises Fed by Jed meals through contributing 70% of the total price, and you pay the remaining 30%. For a $13 main meal the NDIS meal contribution would be $9.10 and your small co-payment is just $3.90 per meal.

See below for a handy table outlining the price split.

MEAL NDIS CONTRIBUTION OUT-OF-POCKET COST
Soup $2.10 $0.90
Main $9.10 $3.90
Large Main Meals $11.20 $4.80
Dessert $2.80 $1.20
